2008 H3 - Halloween Horror Hostel

H3 - Halloween Horror Hostel is the second episode of season one of the German parody series ProSieben Funny Movie. Eight total German language episodes were produced in two seasons (2008 and 2011). This horror movie spoof episode originally aired March 18th, 2008 and contains references and parodies of many well known horror movies including Halloween, Saw, Friday the 13th, Hostel, Evil Dead, The Ring, The Texas Chainsaw Massacre, Donnie Darko, Dawn of the Dead etc. The episode also features music by Rob Zombie, Michael Jackson's Thriller, Halloween (2007) theme and The Pussycat Dolls song Don't Cha. It is unrated and contains alcohol use, nudity and sexual situations.

A few good jokes and a lot of lame ones. Basically just a quick rehash of familiar horror tropes but at the length of just 70 minutes it's easy to sit through. There are no English subtitles in case you want to watch. Here is the badly translated to English synopsis: Four teenagers on their way to a Halloween party crash their car in the woods. A man with a chainsaw emerges from the darkness who turns out to be a good-natured hostel owner Harry, inviting them to follow him. Combine this scenario with two slutty sluts named Paris and Fikki, a hockey-mask wearing mass murderer who has escaped from jail, an annoying doll in a small red car who demands popcorn, dancing zombies summoned from the book of the dead, and you have "Halloween, on a Friday the 13th and 28 weeks later ..."

Below is a YouTube playlist with parts 2 to 9 but part 1 is missing (blocked due to copyright):

1991 Little Dracula - Little D's Halloween

Little Dracula is an animated series that debuted on Fox Kids and revolves around a green-skinned child vampire who aspires to be like his father, Big Dracula, yet also enjoys rock 'n roll and surfing. Little Dracula has a monstrous friend named Werebunny, and his Transylvanian family of strange characters is often threatened by the villainous Garlic Man. Featuring the voices of several veteran comedians and actors including Joe Flaherty as Big Dracula, Jonathan Winters as Igor and Granny, and Fran Ryan as Hannah the Barbarian.

The short-lived cartoon series is based on the British series of children's books of the same name by Martin Waddell & Joseph Wright. Thirteen episodes were produced, but only six were aired; five episodes aired the week of 3 – 6 September, before its timeslot was given to Beetlejuice. Little D's Halloween is the sixth episode that originally aired October 31st, 1991 on Fox Kids. Here is the synopsis: Little Dracula, his family, and his best friend Werebunny, go out for some Halloween fun dressed up as regular people.

In 1999, Fox Family reran the series, including four episodes which had not aired during the original run (another three remained unaired). Some of the books were also republished following this brief revival. A second season (13 more episodes) was co-produced with France and Germany that never aired in the United States. In Europe, Little Dracula (Draculito, mon saigneur) is an animated series in 26 episodes.

1977 The Child

The Child aka Zombie Child is a 1977 low budget, evil kid horror film with bad acting, crappy dubbing, hokey gore effects and bizarre piano music. But I love that it's set around Halloween, has a spooky jack-o-lantern, a scarecrow that comes to murderous life, eerie foggy cemetery scenes, and crusty old cannibal zombies.

Here is the synopsis: A newly-hired housekeeper (Laurel Barnett) in a remote area is alarmed to discover that her boss's eleven-year-old daughter (Rosalie Cole) is using her supernatural powers to take revenge on the people she holds responsible for her mother's death, with the aid of her flesh-eating zombie 'friends'. Rated R.

1994 Nickelodeon Frightfest

Nickelodeon Frightfest is a compilation of three Halloween themed episodes of Nicktoons that originally aired on "the only network for kids" and then released on this 50 minute VHS on August 23, 1994 by Nick and Sony Wonder. It contains: Rugrats: Candy Bar Creep Show (aired January 5 1992); Doug: Doug's Halloween Adventure (aired October 31 1993); and Ren and Stimpy: Haunted House (aired 21 November 1992); I always thought Ren and Stimpy was and, after watching this, still hilarious but I never got into watching Rugrats or Doug.

Here is the synopsis on the back of the VHS cover: Come on-there's nothing to be afraid of! They're only cartoons. Sure they're a little spooky. Like when Tommy Pickles and his RUGRATS friends set off to investigate mysterious costumed creatures lurking in the yard. Or When DOUG and his friend Skeeter get trapped in an amusement park where not all the monsters are mechanical. And when REN and STIMPY drop in on a haunted mansion-well, you wouldn't let a little chainsaw-wielding ghost worry you, right? Here are your favorite Nicktoons characters in their three most comically creepy episodes ever.

1992 The Vault of Horror - Horror Bites

This video contains most of the Horror Bites segments from BBC2's The Vault of Horror, an all-night Halloween movie marathon that originally aired on October 31st 1992 starting at 11:00pm and lasting until 7:30am in the morning. The movie marathon was introduced and linked by horror host Dr. Walpurgis, played by Guy Henry and created by Kim Newman.

These segments aired in between the movies and featured interviews with horror film directors, writers and special fx-makers including Clive Barker, George Romero, Stephen King, James Herbert, Sean Cunningham, Wes Craven, Tom Savini, Shaun Hutson, Mary Lambert, Alan Jones, Lloyd Kaufman, and Charles Band. The horror movies and segments were shown in this order:

Tales from EC (1950s horror comics segment), Creepshow (1982 film), The Art of Illusion (special effects and make up segment), The Unholy Trinity (Freddy, Jason & Pinhead segment), The Curse of the Werewolf (1961 film), Prime Evil (The Evil Dead segment), Terror on the Page (horror authors segment), The Bride of Frankenstein (1935 film), The Horror of Sex (women's role in horror segment), Dario Argento's Friends (Trauma segment), Death Line (1972 film) and Abbott and Costello Meet Frankenstein (1948 film).

The other memorable event of that 1992 evening was the broadcast of the infamous Ghostwatch on BBC1 which I wrote about here back during 2015's Halloween Countdown. For the next three years Dr. Terror's Vault of Horror (1993-1995) was broadcast on Fridays on BBC1 and featured the return of Guy Henry's horror host character, though he was renamed Dr. Terror. The gentleman-demon introduced mostly classic horror movies.

1998 Addams Family Reunion

Addams Family Reunion is a 1998 supernatural children's film based on the characters from the cartoon created by cartoonist Charles Addams. Directed by Dave Payne, the film was intended to serve both as a reboot of the franchise, and as a pilot for a new proposed television series produced by Saban. The film stars Daryl Hannah and Tim Curry as Morticia and Gomez Addams respectively while Carel Struycken (Lurch) and Christopher Hart's hand (Thing) are the only ones to reprise their roles from the last two movies, The Addams Family (1991) and Addams Family Values (1993). Nicole Fugere was later cast again as Wednesday for The New Addams Family, an updated version of the 1960's sitcom that aired on Fox Family from 1998 to 1999, and she appeared in nearly all of the program's 65 episodes.

Payne had intended to give the film a dark, edgy tone, but Saban had interfered with the development, insisting that the story be aimed solely at entertaining children and lack much of the black comedy and anarchic satire of the previous entries in the franchise. Saban, however, wanted Payne to imitate aspects of Paramount Pictures' popular 1991-93 duology, and the 1964 TV series, and rejected any original idea developed by Payne and the film's screenwriters. As a result, the film was poorly received by critics, who panned the film's screenplay, special effects, production design and much of its acting, while singling out Tim Curry's performance for praise, calling Curry the best part of the film. Addams Family Reunion was released straight-to-video. Only released on VHS, the film has never been released on DVD.

SYNOPSIS: Gomez (Tim Curry) and Morticia (Daryl Hannah) discover that grandpa (Kevin McCarthy) and grandma (Estelle Harris) Addams are afflicted with a horrifying illness that is slowly but surely making them (gasp) normal! Seeking a family witch-doctor the entire Addams clan heads off for a gala family reunion. Wednesday (Nicole Fugere) and Pugsley (Jerry Messing) are making new friends.. explode, whilst Fester (Patrick Thomas) and Lurch (Carel Struycken) are searching for their little lost Chihuahua... before it eats everyone else. so join the party as the family that puts the "fun" in dysfunctional unleashes the weirdest, wackiest Addams adventure ever!

2003 WB's Outrageous Halloween Outtakes (incomplete)

WB's Outrageous Halloween Outtakes is a TV special that originally aired on the long gone network The WB on October 24, 2003. The incomplete 28 minute video below was found on a VHS tape and is missing the first 15 minutes of the opening. I hope you enjoy watching, and perhaps the entire special will surface someday.

Comedian Anthony Anderson (who back then was in the WB sitcom All About the Andersons and the horror/comedy Scary Movie 3) hosted the originally one-hour special which consisted of bloopers from more than a dozen horror movies, including classics The Fog, Evil Dead 2, The Howling, The Birds, X-Files tv series, remake of Willard with Crispin Glover, Jaws, Alien, Tremors, Wrong Turn and lesser known horror films like Blood Dolls and Delta Delta Die (The Exorcist & Young Frankenstein outtakes are missing). The special also included hidden camera/practical jokes and Halloween home videos.

1999 Beavis And Butthead - Butt-O-Ween

Beavis and Butt-Head is an American adult animated sitcom created by Mike Judge. The series originated from Frog Baseball, a 1992 short film by Judge originally aired on MTV's Liquid Television. After seeing the short, MTV signed Judge to develop the short into a full series. The series originally ran for seven seasons from March 8, 1993 to November 28, 1997.

The full 54 minute VHS called Butt-O-Ween was originally released on August 10, 1999. The video includes the opening warning, the trailer for the movie Beavis and Butthead Do America (1996), followed by the Feature Presentation, here's the synopsis:

The mischief-making twosome return for some Halloween pranks in seven gruesome episodes: 'Butt-O-Ween Bungholio: Lord of the Harvest'; 'The Pipe of Doom'; 'Killing Time'; 'Leave It to Beavis'; 'Ding-Dong Ditch'; 'Late Night with Butt-Head'; and 'Candy Sale'.

I loved watching the Beavis and Butthead in high school and the Halloween episode is hilarious, "check it out, I'm nachos" + candy and Beavis just doesn't mix. All the other episodes on this collection don't take place on Halloween but are just as fun, even though the music video segments that appeared in the original broadcast's were edited out for legal reasons. I wish MTV would still have them on and get rid of those reality shows.

Here is just the Bungholio: Lord of the Harvest episode:

Hoppity Hooper is an American animated tv series produced by Jay Ward (creator of The Rocky and Bullwinkle Show), sponsored by General Mills, and originally broadcast first-run by ABC, and NBC on their Saturday Morning schedule beginning in 1965 and ending 1967. The series was later syndicated to local television stations under the title Uncle Waldo's Cartoon Show.
